Worcestershire County Golf L’td

Welcome to our first County Newsletter January 2021  and I am delighted that Ian Rone, our new President, would like to give an opening message.

Ian Rone,

President.
I feel very privileged, proud and delighted to be elected to be your President for 2021/23. These are very challenging times for us all. However, I look forward to working with my fellow directors in
shaping what I hope will be an enjoyable and successful period for Worcestershire County Golf Ltd.

After 115 years, the County have recently voted to become a limited company and this is now in
place. We’ll now be known as Worcestershire County Golf Limited.

Every club has been formally invited to become a member of the new company. In order to do this every club needs to return their Invitation Acceptance Form before the first AGM in March 2021.
The company’s core purposes are: to promote, administer and encourage the development
of and wider participation in Amateur Golf and to further its interests within the County.
The Council approved the six directors in November to run the company. They are:
President: Ian Rone (Droitwich GC) Chairman: Bill Thompson (Kings Norton GC)
Finance Director: Chris Gupwell (Droitwich GC) Governance Director: John Whitehead
(Droitwich GC) County Secretary : Stuart Pritchard ( Kings Norton GC) Golf Director: Anthony Hill (Moseley GC) Duncan Macpherson (Worcs G&CC) was elected to continue as the County 2nd Team Captain
and Tony Sanders (Worcs G&CC) was elected to be the Seniors Captain from 2021-23. The
County Junior Teams will be managed by: Anthony Hill, Bill Thompson, Stuart Pritchard,
Roger Martin and Mark Hewett.

Worcestershire County Golf has achieved the SafeGolf accreditation from England Golf. This
award demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding children, young people and adults in golf.
The County are keen to make sure that we communicate all our events, results and reports to
all members in various formats as often as possible. Therefore, we will be using the following:
 Facebook: Worcestershire County Golf
 Twitter – Worcestershire County Golf Ltd

We’re all hoping for a much better year in 2021 and a return to more normal County golfing
activity. Please keep safe and enjoy your golf at the wonderful clubs we have across the County.
