REPORT ON THE FINAL OF THE TOFFS TROPHY – 2ND SEPTEMBER 2025
The final of the TOFF Cup took place on Tuesday 2 September 2025 between Chris Alton and Paul Sherborne.
They reached the Final having played 4 rounds involving 42 players.
The Final was played in ideal golfing conditions; cooler than had been the case in the previous couple of weeks. Playing the course proved less of a challenge due to the recent wet weather reducing the unexpected run of the ball which has been experienced over the last few weeks.
Our thanks go to the greenkeepers for maintaining the greens in such good conditions despite the dry weather we have experienced over the last few weeks.
Chris was giving Paul 3 shots on the day. Chris made the early running going 2 up after 4 holes. Paul fought back reducing the lead to one before Chris increased his lead to two up at the turn.
The back nine started with both players playing steady golf. The turning points were the 16th & 18th holes with Chris finding the penalty area with his tee shot on the 16th and the green side bunker on the 18th hole. Paul finished strongly winning the last three holes and the match 1 up.
