The K.Johnson Memorial Cup Saturday 1st August 2026

The K.Johnson Memorial Cup was played for on Saturday 1st August in dry and warm conditions and fast running fairways, with 32 pairs contesting the trophy.

The format was a pairs greensomes medal allowing the pairs a choice of drives before playing alternate shots until holing out.

Some excellent golf was played with 19 of the 32 pairs returning net scores under par on the day. Early starters Barry Smart and John Wall set the pace posting a net 61, a score which was soon matched by Greg Hill and Carl Pugh. A third score of net 61 was later returned by Kevin Smith and Jay Davis to create a 3 way tie for the lead. All three were however surpassed by Dave Ellerton and Darren Shaw who posted the winning score of net 60, matching the winning score achieved in last year’s competition.

The Gross winners were Kevin Smith and Jay Davis with a fantastic 71.

Dave Ellerton is pictured with the trophy following the conclusion of the competition (Darren Shaw was not available for the presentation).
