Summer Scramble 2025

“The Summer Scramble 2025 took place on Saturady 5th July in near perfect conditions, and avoiding the scorching hot weather of late. A high total of 96 players took part, in 24 teams of 4, and despite the recent extremes of heat and dry weather, the Green staff had the course in superb condition, with lush greens and tees a pleasure to play on. The fairways presented something of a challenge with plenty of run and a hard surface, although players seemed to cope well, having got used to these conditions for much of the year to date.

It proved that the early starters had the best of things, as 2 of the first 3 teams took the top 2 places on Nett scores. These players were certainly sweating it out in the Clubhouse while the rest of the field battled it out, unaware of the challenge they faced. The eventual winners, who scored an Eagle 3 on the 18th hole, were Clive Searle, Peter Baker, Ian Woosey and David Straw with a Nett score of 48.3, and runners-up were Matthew Hale, Sean Mayall, Miles Winwood and Nick Baker with a score of 48.5

The Gross competition was also a close run thing, with 2 teams tying for first place on 59 points. Count-back on the back 9 couldn’t separate them, and it was only on examination of the back 6 that the winners were declared as Joseph Lonergan, Jay Davis, Nick Lake and Alexander Lane, beating the team of Matt Parry, Paul Stanford, Andrew Rose and Steve Gurmin.
