Our grateful thanks are extended to the committee of Bromsgrove Golf Centre for organising a fantastic scramble to kick off an already disjointed season.
Special thanks to the competition coordinators Anne Wakelam and Christian Shotton for their sterling efforts in getting 37 teams to play.
We will no doubt, as you would expect, discuss the winners, later in this post.
But firstly, we have absolutely no doubt that the real winners last Saturday were golf and especially the BGC membership itself when one reviews and analyses the eclectic mix of all the participants and teams taking part.
We had Mixed, teams Junior teams, Seniors, Ladies, Old Members, New Members, Mixed teams of all of those, it’s awesome to see and be part of. We are sure that you are all eagerly looking forward to May 15th and our Fun Day.
The popular team winners on the day with a cracking score of 51.0 was Lady Captain elect Anne Wakelam, (hubby) John Wakelam, John Davidson and Jan Harris. John has been a member since the club was formed, Anne about 10 years and both Jan and John relatively new to the club, so it seems to be a fantastic team achievement.
In second place with a tremendous score of 52.3 Stephen Hart, Adrian Chatterton, Neil Chatterton, and Keith Plowman, three of this team have each been a member for over 25 years.
In third place, the team of Jon Bird, Milan Pejovic, Alex Lane, and Nick Lake scoring a superb 52.7 Jon and Milan are long-standing members and met Alex and Nick playing in the Shuffle, they have helped new members at BGC obtain a handicap and then transition into competitive golf, so another success story for all concerned.
