The Slideslow Cup final, a singles match play competition was played on Thursday 12th September between Richard Shirley and Steve Fellows.
The forecast was set for rain during most of the round but turned out to be quite mild with some sunny spells.
Steve took an early 3-hole lead after the 4th when he had an excellent up and down to par the hole (nett birdie). Richard could only manage a par.
Despite Richard ‘steadying the ship’ on the front 9 to just 2 down, Steve continued his momentum on the back 9 with fairway finding tee shots and sinking some long putts.
The match on the 15th hole was now at Dormie, Steve requiring only a half to secure the Slideslow Cup title. Richard hit a superb tee shot but left his 2nd shot short right of the green requiring an up and down to continue the match.
Steve kept his nerve and hit a steady tee shot, and 2 more to reach the green, needing only 2 putts for a nett par for a half. The hole and the match was conceded by Richard as they both shook hands, Steve winning 5 & 3.
Congratulations to both players for reaching the Slideslow Cup final
