Scratch Cup
Saturday 20th marked an exciting milestone for the club, the very first running of the Scratch Cup, an idea approved by the Management Committee just last year and now brought to life.
This brand-new competition was open to members with a handicap of 12.4 or lower (with the required qualifying rounds), all playing off scratch in the battle for this prestigious new title.
A strong field of 18 players stepped up, helped by weather that turned out to be kinder than predicted, it could have been far worse!
The course and greens were in good condition, thanks to the excellent preparation and hard work of our green staff.
The standard of golf did not disappoint. In the end, it was Phil Dyke who rose to the occasion, carding a superb 3-over-par 71, including 2 birdies and 11 pars, to claim victory by two shots. Close behind, Ryan Coy secured second place with a gross 73, and Christan Shotton followed in third with a gross 74.
A huge congratulations to Phil on becoming the first-ever Scratch Cup Champion, a brilliant achievement and one to remember (Please see Cover Photograph of Phil with the new Trophy and the results sheet below).
