PAIRS STABLEFORD COMPETITION: SATURDAY 26 SEPTEMBER 2026
This was a pairs Betterball Stableford competition with teams that could be mixed.
32 pairs contested for the title on a day of mixed conditions. The early morning pairings had to contend with dew on the greens and overcast conditions, which improved as the day went on, so the later pairings had much dryer greens with sunshine.
Despite the early adverse green’s conditions, it was one of the second pairing out which took an early lead and managed to hold that position to be the eventual winners. They were Carl Pugh and Greg Hill with a score of 44 points. Unfortunately, they left early so we were unable to get a photo of them with the trophy.
Second and third place pairings both returned a score of 43 points, it was Milan Pejovic and Scott Taylor who took second place, just beating into third place Nick Lake and Alex Lane on countback.
Thanks as always to the ground staff for preparing the course, the Competitions Committee especially Ian Renhard for setting the event up, and to Gary McCartney for running the event on the day and compiling this report.
Before there are any comments, the trophy was made of glass and Gary on this occasion managed to display and return it to reception without incident / dropping it.
