On Wednesday 17th September, Bromsgrove Golf Centre bravely transformed into a part-time disco runway, as 42 thrill-seeking golfers took part in a Texas scramble under cover of darkness.

Yes, golf at night. Because who doesn’t want to combine poor visibility with sharp metal sticks?
The weather was suspiciously perfect for September—mild temperatures and just enough breeze to remind you your ball has more chance of drifting into Worcestershire than landing on the green.

At the starter’s hut, players could choose a comforting hot soup or going full daredevil with chilli and rice in the restaurant, an ideal pre-game fuel.
Each group played six holes, using a shotgun start. 6 holes were lit up like Heathrow’s runway, clearly pointing out where to aim… although some players still managed to treat the glowing fairways as “helpful suggestions” rather than instructions.
The real highlight? Watching neon golf balls streak across the sky like confused shooting stars, occasionally landing somewhere useful, but more often testing the durability of nearby shrubbery.

On the night, Mat Thompson, Jacob Tuohy, and Ryan Cooke shot a mighty 1 under par to claim bragging rights, while the rest of us claimed second helpings at the bar.
Speaking of which, a big thanks to the house team in working together and for keeping the lights on long past bedtime, proving once again that the 19th hole is still the most popular one on the course.
