MORRIS BOWL TROPHY FINAL 2024

The Morris Bowl Trophy is an individual Match Play knockout competition for men. 44 entrants vied for the trophy over six rounds culminating in the final played on Sunday 15th September 2024.
The final was contested between SHAUN BOWEN (L) and MILAN PEJOVIC (R) photographed below on the first tee.
The match was played in ideal golfing conditions, with pleasant temperatures and little or no wind. Thanks go to the grounds staff for all their efforts in maintaining the course throughout the year.
A big thank you goes to the 5 groups who teed off ahead of the match, and kindly let the finalists through allowing them to maintain their playing rhythm.
The first 2 holes were won by Milan, but then Shaun responded winning the next 5 holes to take a 3-hole lead. Milan won the 8th with a net birdie and Shaun took the 9th, so the match had Shaun 3 up at the turn.
On the 10th Milan had a shot. He hit his tee shot into the trees on the left, played his 2nd along the 1st fairway, then put his 3rd shot over the trees onto the green. His 2 putts, gave him a well rescued 5. In response, Shaun played 2 great shots onto the green, his 2 putts gave him a par resulting in the first halved hole.
Shaun then won the 11th hole giving him a 4-hole lead. The next 4 holes were all halved, and as a result, Shaun maintained his lead winning the match 4 & 3.
Congratulations to both players for reaching the Morris Bowl Trophy final and playing a friendly contest throughout.

On receiving the trophy, Shaun commented that when he won the trophy 10 years ago, he was not old enough to drink from the trophy, but this time he would legally enjoy the winner’s privilege.
