Forty-one mixed pairs entered the 2nd Mixed Open 4BBB Stableford held on Sunday 13th August as part of the Festival of Golf celebrating 30 years of Bromsgrove Golf Club.

The weather was very kind to us and a complete contrast to the blistering 36c for last year’s event. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were running fast. The course was challenging with many of the white tee boxes set quite well back with a few red flags to compensate. The entry fee included a cream tea with tea/coffee which was very well received. Feedback was very complimentary with a few couples having entered the Open again from last year.

The 4BBB Stableford competition required 1 score to count on Par 4s and 5s and both scores to count on Par 3s. There was a nearest the pin on the 7th for the ladies and a longest drive on 18th for the men.

Couples could enter a 2s competition in which all prize money was divided between the successful players. Many thanks to everyone in the Centre and the Club who helped make it an overwhelming success. Special thanks go to John Kelly for serenading the players with ‘Straight Down the Middle’ in his role as starter and Maxine Dickson who manned the Halfway House with squash and biscuits. A raffle raised £220 for Club funds.

The event was won by Ian Barber and Anne Wakelam from Bromsgrove Golf Club with 58 points, 24 points of which were scored on the Par 3s. The winning teams are below and a full score sheet can be found here 2023 Mixed Open Results.

It was a great day played in the right spirit and everyone was complimentary about the course and the newly refurbished Edwards Bar.

Thank you to everyone for taking part.
