Our third Mixed Open took place at Bromsgrove on Saturday 24th August.
As before it was a mixed pairs 4BBB with 2 scores to count on all Par 3s, 1 score on the remaining holes. It was well supported with 34 pairs from various clubs participating, many returning to play from the previous two years.
In the previous two years, we were blessed with beautiful sunny weather. Unfortunately, this was not the case this year when the typical British weather prevailed. Perhaps it had something to do with it being a Bank Holiday! The downpours were quite heavy at times but in true golfing spirit, everyone took it in good spirit. There were numerous comments afterwards about how lovely the course was; a bit sneaky in parts and the tremendous facilities we enjoy. The pin placement on the 17th caused some comments afterwards as it was precariously near the slope. Perhaps the greenkeepers thought it was Fun Day .. and a treacherous hole!
The highest placed Bromsgrove members were Lynsey Mills who came 2nd and, the BGC pair Keely Tattersfield and David James who came 3rd. David also won the longest drive on the 8th by quite some way. Congratulations to our members.
Thank you to everyone who helped make it such an enjoyable day and to those who took part. It was much appreciated.
