Lockdown 4th November Update

Following the UK Government’s announcement of a one-month lockdown in England the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Golf has been lobbying the Government to allow golf to remain open. Despite making a very strong case to MPs that golf is naturally a socially-distanced sport with tremendous physical and mental wellbeing benefits, and it reopened safely during the first lockdown, the sport has been unable to persuade the Government that golf should be exempt from the restrictions that will come into force at midnight tonight.

So, unfortunately, as we stand at this current time, it is with deep regret that we confirm that we will close the gates and the whole centre tonight after the range closed at 9 pm. Our friends at BRS have decommissioned part of the online booking system and we have temporarily suspended dates/ times in anticipation (second guessing) of maybe having to re-configure and populate the time sheet time intervals and amend the booking rules for re-opening.

We are still awaiting final clarification from our Governing Bodies on several key points including the potential for re-opening, date, time, what the parameters are for the business and as soon as we have some declarative feedback we will be back in touch to confirm.

Throughout this most demanding period, the team here at BGC and the membership in conjunction with the members committee has pulled together to offer a brilliant service and support each other, we have no doubt that this will continue.

As it currently stands today, all golf clubs and facilities in England – including outdoor facilities such as driving ranges – will be forced to close from tomorrow (5th November) until the 2nd December.

As a company we will spend the next four weeks productively, keeping all full time Greenkeepers fully employed to maintain the course and ensure it is ready and fully prepared for re-opening, we will be preserving our facilities, investing/ upgrading and further developing our systems, strengthening our network and building on the unbelievable momentum that we have gained together throughout this year.

There are many questions that require answering, including those important financial queries regarding Gold and Silver members subscription payments, can we please ask you to be patient and be assured that we will be contacting you again in the near future.

Please continue to check our social media channels and the BGC website for the latest updates and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries or concerns.
