REPORT ON THE FINAL OF THE LADIES’ TOFFS CUP – 8TH SEPTEMBER 2025
The final of the Ladies TOFFS Cup (ladies over 55 years old) took place on Monday 8 September 2025 between Janet Slade pictured below on the left and Carolyn Fox on the right. They achieved the final having played 3 rounds involving 13 players.
The final was played in ideal golf weather; the rain originally forecast did not materialise.
The recent heavy rain has turned parts of the fairways back to green, meaning the ball was not travelling as far and changing the playing conditions experienced in previous weeks.
Although maintenance had taken place on the greens, our thanks go to the greenkeepers for managing to present them in a playable conditions such that the majority of putts were going where they were hit.
Carolyn was giving Janet 6 shots on the day. At the turn, Janet was 1 up, with both players having played very consistently. Then came a number of to and fro holes, with hole 10 halved, Carolyn taking holes 11 and 12, Janet holes 13 and 14 and then Carolyn winning hole 15 making the match all square.
The turning point came on the next 2 holes. On the 16th both players were looking to halve the hole, but Janet’s putt lipped out for a 5, leaving Carolyn with a putt for a 4 winning the hole. On the 17th, Carolyn put her drive on the green about 20 feet from the hole, Janet however went into the bunker. Janet was out in 1 but left herself a long putt taking 2 to hole out scoring a 4. Carolyn putted out for a 3, giving her a win 2 and 1.
