Ladies Am-Am Open 2026

The annual Ladies Am-Am attracted 24 teams from the local golfing community on another day of glorious sunshine, bringing out many bright and colourful outfits and some dazzling golf to go with it.

John Wakelam made a flamboyant starter and Mary Robinson, Jill Bullock and Mary Harison kindly assisted at the halfway house, which provided welcome refreshment in the heat. There were further contributions from Club captain and Vice-Captain, Steph Baines and Noosh Plummer and Shannon Jeffries also supported by selling raffle tickets on the reception desk. Richard Fox helped give out cards and guidance on competition rules etc. There was much appreciated administrative support from men’s captain Gary McCartney beforehand and on the day. It was a real team effort and the support was invaluable.

First out was a Bromsgrove team comprising Carolyn Fox, Sharon Easton-Pollock and Michelle Parry, along with returnee Alison Dixon, and they held the lead with 87 points for some considerable time, only to be eventually pipped by another home team made up of Shannon Jeffries, Noosh Plummer, Sonia Smith and Steph Baines, who crept into first spot with a score of 88. In third place were a combined team from Moseley and Stourbridge with the fourth team coming from Ladbrook Park and N Warwickshire GC. It clearly helped having home advantage on the course.

Visitors were thoroughly impressed by the condition of the course, as well as the generous offering of food vouchers and range balls on the day, together with the level and quality of hospitality they receive at our club. For this, we must once again thank those behind the scenes at the golf centre who make all this possible.
