Greensomes Cup Finals: Sunday 27th September 2026
Taking consecutive tee times on Sunday 26th September the finals of the Slideslow Cup between Dave Straw and Mike Small and the Greensomes Cup between Chris Alton / Jon Cofield & Jay Davis / Kevin Smith were competed in cooler conditions than of late with the occasional shower.
Greensomes Cup
The Greensomes Cup final proved to be a closely fought affair. Receiving 3 strokes Jon and Chris were able to take advantage on the 2nd hole to secure a 1-hole lead. Impressive play from both pairs followed with a number of holes won or halved with pars, however Jay and Kev were able to haul back the initiative to reach the turn with a 1 hole lead. Holes 11 to 14 were traded as they reached the 15th tee with Jay and Kev holding on to their advantage. Impressive drives down the 15th allowed second shots at the green with Kev and Jay securing a par to win the hole. Both pairs found the front of the 16th green with their tee shots, with the hole at the back of the green and Kev to putt first he was able to knock it close which proved sufficient to win the hole and secure a 3&2 victory.

Both matches benefitted from the course being in great condition and were played in the true spirit of matchplay golf.
