Fun Day

The Fun Day was organised by your Vice Captains Stephanie Baines and Gary McCartney.

To begin this report, we have a big list of people to say thank you: –

• To all the players for taking part and without whom such competitions would not be possible.
• To the Centre staff for looking after us all and especially to Mary Harrison and David Reece for manning the Beer Tent on the 10^th Which we understand went down a storm with all players.
• To the staff of Midlands Golf for their donation of some wonderful golf related raffle prizes, which were collected throughout the day.
• To the grounds men for having the course is such great condition for the day.
• Carolyn Fox for turning up really early to help out before playing.
• A special mention to Andrew Morgan for helping out for the whole day.

Now to the day, where the weather could not have been better for playing golf.

We had 76 players enjoying our Treasure Island with a twist themed day.  In addition to the golf there was a pirate themed picture quiz where points were added to a team’s golf Stableford score for each correct answer.  In the end it was really the golf that decided team positions, the picture quiz points were a bonus.

Congratulations go to the team of Scott Harris, Ryan Coy, Nick Tilsley and Michael Burrows, who won the main golf prize and will each receive £50 in golf vouchers.

The main golf prizes extended to positions 2^nd to 5^th with each member of the teams winning £40, £30, £20 and £10 respectively.  Placings for all the teams are shown on the attached spreadsheet, with their Stableford and picture quiz scores.

Other prizes included: –

• Nearest the pin in 2 for the ladies on the 11^th hole – Samantha Avent.
• Nearest the pin for the men on the 17^th hole – Matthew Hale.
• There were 3 prizes for the search in the bunkers for the Buried Treasure. From the returns of certain teams, it is possible that players deliberately went into the bunkers to be eligible for the prizes.  Prizes drawn were for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd
• Other prize winners are detailed below.

It was great to see so many players entering into the spirit of the day with 8 players “going over the top” by dusting off their pirate costumes / inner pirate personas.  Each of the 8 will be receiving a special prize.  Please find a selection of pictures from the day.

This year to allow golfers more flexibility and to offset those shots everyone wants to forget we sold Mulligans.  As promised, there was a draw for prizes to 3 places (collected on the day).

We also added a special prize for the team with the highest score in the pirate themed picture quiz.

All those winning a prize have been notified directly and their vouchers can be collected from Wednesday onward from Midlands Golf.  In total the Fun Day resulted in 33 players winning a prize.  In addition, we were able to donate £100 to the Captains charities.

 A finalthing is to thank both Stephanie and Gary for organising the day and for a well-run competition.
