Members Update on competition golf at Bromsgrove:
It is with much regret and sadness that we have had to take the decision to cancel the Winter Singles competition, rounds 10,11,12,13 and 14, scheduled to take place on 7th, 15th ,21st ,22nd and 28th November, as a result of the closure of the course due to lockdown recently imposed by the Government.
Despite intense lobbying by England Golf and the All-Party Parliamentary Group they have been unable to persuade the Government to alter its position and allow golf to continue during the lockdown. We are therefore faced with a situation where all golf courses are required to close for the period 4th November until 2nd December 2020.
Also falling casualty to the lockdown is the Fare and Feather competition which was scheduled to take place on Saturday 5th December 2020. As we cannot be sure that golf courses will be allowed to open on 2nd December or indeed what, if any, restrictions may be in place I.e. two balls only, we have no alternative but to cancel this competition.
Subject to the Government allowing golf to return on 2nd December it is our intention to reinstate the Winter Singles Stableford competitions with rounds scheduled for 6th, 12th ,13th ,and 27th December.
It is too early at this stage to confirm or otherwise if the Santa’s Scramble, scheduled to be held on Saturday 19th December, can go ahead as planned. Hopefully, golf will have been allowed to return at that time but until the restrictions being imposed on us are known, we are unable to make an informed decision as to whether or not it is possible or indeed practicable to run this competition.
We can also confirm that there is an unfortunate software malfunction with England Golf and Handicap data, this has resulted in about 300 members records not currently being uplifted, therefore reporting/ showing no playing history. The software support company based in New Zealand are aware of the issue and are working to try to resolve this as soon as possible.
Members who have records that are subject to this malfunction will also experience problems viewing their records on the V1 and HowDidiDo platforms. At this moment you do not need to contact us and are not required to take any action.
We are in daily communication with our Support company who are trying hard to resolve this matter with England Golf. We will provide you with further information as and when it becomes available.
