AmAm Open – Tuesday 15th August
The Festival of Golf AmAm Open on Tuesday 15th August saw 28 teams (112 players) take part. This included six teams of visitors. To enable players who work during the week to play teams were allowed to start later if required. As a result, the first team started at 08:21 and the last team started at 16:00.
Competition was fierce with ten teams scoring 80 points or more but the early morning leaders Tim Jones, Chris McHale, Nick Stockholm and Terry Whitehouse (85 points) held on to win by 2 points from the visiting team from Droitwich GC of Lee Nolan, Jack Diggins, Simon Evans and Glen Thompson (83 points). Senior’s Captain Gary McCartney, Graham Solomon, Steve Allerston and Richard Tomkinson (82 points) secured third place with a better back nine of 39 points from Keith Hadley, David Kelley, Ken Read and John Leach (82 points, back nine 37) who finished fourth. Visiting teams from Warley Woods and Little Lakes & Stockwood Vale finished in fifth and sixth place with 81 points.
There were two gross 2 winners on the day: Tony Pallante and Simon Evans (Droitwich GC).

Greensomes Stableford Open – Wednesday 16th August
The Festival of Golf Greensomes Stableford Open on Wednesday 16th August saw 30 pairs (60 players) take part. This included six pairs of visitors. The first pairs started at 08:30 and the last pairs started at 13:36.
Another closely fought competition saw Mike Pearce and Debra Pearce secure victory with 39 points. Sharon Easton Pollock and Jude McManus were runners-up with 38 points and a better back nine from Ian Barber and Michelle Parry in third place. Tony Pallante and Jon Cofield finished fourth with 36 points and Sam Richmond and Andy Richmond finished fifth with 35 points beating Geoff Strike and Chris Rowell (sixth place) and Dave Ellerton and Milan Pejovic (seventh place) on the back nine. The highest-placed visiting pair were Adrian Tinker and Seb Hopkins from Ravenmeadow & Perdiswell GC who finished in ninth place with 34 points.
There were no gross 2 winners on the day and the 2s sweep entry fees were donated to the captains’ charities.

Alliance Open – Friday 18th August
The Festival of Golf Alliance Open on Friday 18th August saw 24 teams (72 players including 22 visitors) take part. To enable players who work during the week to play teams were allowed to start later if required. As a result, the first team started at 09:06 and the last team started at 16:00. Heavy rain persisted for the first hour of play but it cleared up as the morning progressed and the later starters enjoyed a sunny but windy afternoon.
Scoring proved challenging throughout the day. The final team to start of Men’s Captain Rich Alsop, Men’s Vice Captain David James and Nigel Williams scored 77 points and came in to pip the long-time leaders of Paul Stanford, Alan Butler (Redditch GC) and Cheryl Green (Redditch GC) 76 points. Third place went to Ange Smith, Gemma Foley-Hearn (Hollywood GC) and Becky Foley-Hearn (Hollywood Golf Club) with 74 points and the first team out of Mat Dale, MC Jones and Chris Gadd finished fourth with 71 points and a better back nine of 36 points from Jude McManus, Linda Houston and Rick Chima (Copt Heath GC) in fifth place.
The highest-place visiting team was Teresa Wright, David Wright and Roger Hughes from Kenilworth GC who finished in ninth place with 69 points.
There were six gross 2 winners on the day: David James (2), Lee Nolan (Droitwich GC), Chris Gadd, Ian Barber and David Wright (Kenilworth GC).

Captains’ Day Florida Scramble – Saturday 19th August
After enjoying bacon rolls, tea and coffee, 30 teams (120 players) took their places on the allotted tees ready for the 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for this year’s Captains’ Day.
Rich and Michelle had chosen to play a Florida Scramble, all players tee off and then select the best drive then the person whose drive is selected steps aside while the other 3 play the next shot. This continues until the ball is holed.
The golf was completed in good time. Back at the clubhouse Rachel from Primrose was ready to greet players for a game of higher or lower cards and Ray and Han were on hand to discuss fitness at the Golf PT stand.

Third place: Roo Lawrence, Laura Lawrence, Kate Thompson & Dave Smallwood (Nett 53)
Runners up: Carolyn Fox, Bob Smith, Jude McManus & Ange Smith (Nett 53 BB6)
Winners: Charlie Linden, Zac Bates, Samuel Yates & James Yorke (Nett 50)
The 2’s pot was shared between the 25 people who had a 2 on the day.

30th Anniversary Party – Saturday 19th August
The sold-out celebration party was attended by 98 people. After being greeted by the captains a welcome drink of fizz was enjoyed. A delicious buffet of home-cooked beef and ham, dressed salmon, new potatoes and salad or Thai curry with rice and naan bread was served in the rearranged reception area by Chef Laura and her team. Zena’s individual homemade desserts followed with a zingy lemon tart, beautiful orange cheesecake decorated with edible flowers and bite-size Victoria sandwich cakes, accompanied by strawberries and cream.
From the first note that Dee and the Beats played to the last, the dance floor was full.
In between sets, the raffle was drawn with 10 prizes ranging from £250 to £50 in Midlands Golf (Bromsgrove) vouchers.
