Tuesday 25th August 2026 Result: Angela Smith (21.7) Won 1Up against Janet Slade (24.0) Report: The Ann Morris Bowl is an individual match play knockout competition for ladies starting in May and finishing in August. The climax of the competition is the final which was played on Tuesday 25th August between Angela Smith and Janet Slade. With an 8:44am tee time it was a bit chilly with a strong wind. Sweaters soon came off and the match was finished in very warm and sunny weather. Though there had been some rain showers the previous week the fairways were still very dry with fast running balls quite often into a bunker! Despite the course conditions both players played some great golf and the match was very close with never more than 2 shots in it. Janet started with some great putting and won the 1st hole but Angela fought back winning holes 2 and 3. With a win on 5th Angela was 2 up and great pars from both players on 6 and 7 and another from Angela on 8th halved the holes. With a good putt on the 9th Janet won the hole and Angela went into the turn 1 up. Janet had three shots and used her last on the 10th halving the hole and with a win on the 11th the match was level starting the 13th.where Angela found the bunker with her drive. A win from Janet saw her 1 up at the 14th and pars from both and halving 15 and 16 saw a very tense 17th hole. A great drive from Angela onto the green gave her a win and a par. All level going into an even more tense 18th hole. A long drive from Angela but a second shot into the trees saw the players very even but a bunker and chipping on very hard ground for Janet gave Angela the advantage and the win.
