The AmAm Open on Wednesday 17th July saw 25 teams (100 players) participate. This included thirteen teams of visitors.
Competition was fierce with nine teams scoring over 80 points. The early morning leaders Mike Friar, Anthony Schorah, Andrew Burke and Gary Raven from The Welcombe Golf Club (87 points) held on to win by one point from the visiting team from Nuneaton Golf Club of Gary Bennett, Bob Wood, Dennis Atkinson and Mick Grant (86 points).
Three home teams all with 84 points took the next three prizes. Jeff Rushton, Mat Dale, MC Jones and Geoff Forrester (84 points, back nine 41 points) secured third place with a better back six holes of 26 points from Paul Stanford, Geoff Moss, Jude McManus and Linda Houston (84 points, back nine 41 points, back six 25 points) who finished fourth. Fifth place with a back nine of 39 went to Micky Burrows, Ray Cole, Ian Sayce and Dave Burford (Enville Golf Club).
The two’s competition saw the six successful competitors win a £15 voucher each. In addition, congratulations go to Kate Thompson who had a hole-in-one on the 17th hole (£30 voucher).
We received excellent feedback from visiting players who were very impressed with the course, our clubhouse, the friendliness of staff, Midlands Golf Shop, the facilities on the range, our organisation and the value of our Open.
